This evening will be pure audio; visual pixels will be taking a well earned rest. In these rare moments of audio immersion, Victoria places her full focus on initiating sound made by her original instruments, electric guitar and voice. Deep listening is practiced as each expressive vibration is joined with the momentary experience of these other exceptional musicians. A unique sonic landscape is created that invites the audience to add their listening energy to our shared experience of time and place.
Parmela Attariwala
Born and raised in Mohkinstis (Calgary), Parmela Attariwala determined to play the violin as a toddler after seeing one played on television. What began as a youthful hobby of violining—Western classical, fiddle, and accompanying singers in the Sikh temple—eventually supplanted Parmela’s early studies in science (and any hope for a dependable bank balance). She studied violin formally in the United States and in Europe. Then, a one-year visit to Toronto turned into a twenty-five-year sojourn where Parmela cultivated an eclectic artistic practice of traditional and non-traditional, cross-genre and interdisciplinary, performance and creation, and an ethnomusicology PhD focused on identity and music in Canada. Parmela moved to Vancouver in 2019.

Clyde Reed is a long-time member of the vibrant creative music scene in Vancouver. He has performed at major jazz festivals in North America and Europe. Long term musical collaborators include Jared Burrows, Nikki Carter, Bruce Friedman, Vinny Golia, Rich Halley, Kenton Loewen, Paul Plimley, Claude Ranger, and Carol Sawyer.
Andrea Wong

Andrea Wong is an experimental sound artist whose musical background stems from classical piano and Canadian folk fiddle. She has worked as a creative coder and sound designer for interactive media including virtual reality games and interactive installations, as well as fixed media such as short animations and electroacoustic operas. Andrea’s curiosities have led her in a pursuit of using technology to create meaningful and accessible immersive experiences. Her work is a mixture of projects involving researching, creating, and performing with interactive music technologies. Andrea’s current musical practice is focused on creating sincere relationships and unique conversations through free improvisation. She is an avid collaborator and enjoys exploring the Chinese guzheng augmented with computer electronics. A passionate educator and strong believer in the power of community, Andrea teaches music out of her Calgary home studio, Signal Hill School of Music and administers her regular community series Improv Karaoke in Vancouver-Chinatown and Brentwood Burnaby. Andrea can be found performing violin regularly with the Calgary Civic Symphony and currently sits on the board of directors of Vancouver New Music, www.ahywong.com
